Domestic abuse is a pattern of behavior that comes in many forms such as, threats, violence, emotional, verbal or sexual abuse, and it is very common and can happen to anyone. Noticing the signs of an abusive relationship is the first step towards ending it.

Sexual Abuse

Sexual abuse is any sort of non-consensual sexual contact and can happen to men, women or children of any age. Sexual abuse can include derogatory name calling, refusal to use contraception, deliberately causing unwanted physical pain during sex, deliberately passing on sexual diseases or infections and using objects, toys, or other items such as, baby oil or lubricants, without consent and humiliation. This also included rape.

Substance Abuse

Substance abuse refers to the harmful or hazardous use of substances, including consuming excess amounts of alcohol, smoking and drugs. The use of recreational or prescription drugs, alcohol or smoking can cause addiction and negative consequences.

Sometimes, we may go through periods where we are feeling sad and lonely or having feelings of unease, worry or fear about situations in our lives. Sometimes these feelings can pass quickly however, if the feelings are interfering with your life it could be a sign that you may be suffering from a form of depression and/or anxiety.

Being bullied can seriously affect an individual’s physical, emotional, academic and social well-being. Many sufferers of bullying lack confidence, feel bad about themselves, have few friends and spend a lot of time alone.
